Baltimore resident Alcira Garcia De Dubon, 50, was ejected from a vehicle at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 after a Porche rear-ended a Mazda she was a passenger in while driving through Elkridge, police said.
Maryland State Police troopers responded to a stretch of I-95 near Maryland Route 100, where there was a reported multi-vehicle crash involving a 2016 Porsche Cayenne and 2008 Mazda CX-9 when the former struck the latter, causing both to lose control.
During the crash, Dubon was ejected from the Mazda, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and three other passengers were uninjured.
Then things took a turn for the worse.
Police say that the driver of the Porsche, Morgan Charles Kelly II, 46, of Columbia in Howard County, exited his vehicle after the initial crash and was standing by the right shoulder guardrail.
According to the preliminary investigation, Kelly attempted to then cross I-95 and walked directly into the path of a 2019 Honda Odyssey that struck him. He was transported by paramedics to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of his injuries.
His condition was not immediately available on Tuesday afternoon.
In total, seven vehicles were reportedly involved in the crash.
The interstate was closed for approximately five hours following the crash, according to police. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the lane closures while the Maryland State Police Crash Team investigated.
